We had the opportunity to present Love & Hate at the second meeting of the Hand Eye Society. The Hand Eye Society is a local game development interest group. They gather every other month to talk shop on all things game dev. Last night was part of their “5 in 25″ social event. Five presentations in 25 minutes. Very fast paced demos of what some of the people around Toronto are working on.
We were able to make a few tweaks on Love & Hate for this presentation which we hope to make available soon in an updated download.
Ryan Creighton of Untold Entertainment was using plastiscene balls to help out on his presentation. He tossed several balls into crowd getting people to create the main character of their next video game. Here we have Matt pulling off some of his modeling skills in plastiscene form (NOTE: that’s play-doh or modeling clay for the layman) along with the creations of several others from that night.
Next up for Team Awesomo is TO Jam #4 happening May 1 – 3.

We’re going to be presenting the latest version of Love and Hate at the Hand Eye Society tonight. If you’re around Queen West, come by for a drink and some games. It’s at Unit at 7 – 10pm (1198 Queen Street W).
Love and Hate is a 2 – 4 player game where you compete to eat as many monsters as you can before the time runs out. Every monster you eat makes you bigger and bigger but also makes you move slower and slower. The biggest player at the end of the round wins.
Installation and Running
1. Unzip the file.
2. Run “Love and Hate.exe”
XNA 3.0: Get it here.
.NET Framework: Get it here.
Keyboard players use the WSAD and IKJL keys to move up, down, left and right, respectively.
XBox 360 controller players use just the left thumb stick.
Eat yellow monsters that are smaller than you to get bigger. Avoid yellow monsters that are bigger than you. They will make you shrink! The object of the game is to be the biggest player when time runs out.
